My name is Gordon Wilson. I have had an obsession with snakes ever since I was a young child. My uncle had several pet snakes, including a Black Mamba, which I thought was the coolest thing ever (and still do!). I used to love going to his house and would watch his snakes for hours.
I always knew I would get my own snakes some day. And when I was old enough, I did!
I now have over 10 years experience keeping snakes, though I do not own any venomous snakes. they are illegal where I live, but I am actually considering moving, so that I can finally have the snakes I really want.
For now, I have a couple of corn snakes and a carpet python.
Enough about me. What you’re really here for is my site. I started My Snake Pet primarily to educate people about snakes, in the hopes that it would teach people not to fear them. If they don’t fear them, perhaps few snakes would be murdered every year.
While I just wanted to present general information about snakes at first, I soon found myself writing guides on how to care for snakes. Some were easy for me, but I have no experience with many types of snakes, so I had to do a lot of research. Whenever possible, I tried to find someone who actually owns the species of snake I wanted to write about. Sometimes those people even turned out to be willing to write the articles themselves, which is always the ideal scenario.
Whoever writes them, I try to make sure every article on this site is either highly informative or highly entertaining. I would also appreciate any suggestions you have for future articles I could add to this site. I am always looking for new ideas for topics to write about.
